The Côte Saint-Luc Public Library marked its 60th anniversary on July 12 with an absolutely fun event geared towards the kids. I was on hand along with Mayor David Tordjman and Councillors Andee Shuster and Steven Erdelyi.
It seemed like just yesterday that I was at the 50th anniversary bash. The common denominator is Janine West, our chief librarian. She has worked for the library for an incredible 44 years and there she was Sunday overseeing proceedings.
The event began with a circus performance in Ashkelon Gardens. Inside activities included face painting, a photo booth, birthday card making, and LaLa Lesley. Cupcakes were served at the conclusion.
We will mark the precise anniversary of the library in September. Eleanor London, our founding librarian , would be proud of what she built. The CSL Public Library remains among the best of its kind in Quebec.

La bibliothèque publique de Côte Saint-Luc a célébré son 60e anniversaire le 12 juillet lors d’un événement particulièrement ludique destiné aux enfants. J’étais présent aux côtés du maire David Tordjman et des conseillers municipaux Andee Shuster et Steven Erdelyi.
J’ai l’impression que c’était hier que j’assistais à la fête du 50e anniversaire. Le dénominateur commun, c’est Janine West, notre bibliothécaire en chef. Elle travaille pour la bibliothèque depuis pas moins de 44 ans, et elle était bien là dimanche pour superviser le déroulement des festivités.
L’événement a débuté par un spectacle de cirque au jardin Ashkelon. À l’intérieur, les activités comprenaient du maquillage pour enfants, un photomaton, la création de cartes d’anniversaire et la présence de LaLa Lesley. Des cupcakes ont été servis à la fin.
Nous célébrerons l’anniversaire exact de la bibliothèque en septembre. Eleanor London, notre bibliothécaire fondatrice, serait fière de ce qu’elle a bâti. La bibliothèque publique de la CSL reste l’une des meilleures de son genre au Québec.
