The Equinoxe rental condos have been sold

The Equinoxe apartments on Marc Chagall Avenue in Côte Saint-Luc are now under new ownership. Realstar Properties has been in business for more than 50 years and they operate The Excelsior on  Cavendish Blvd. Thus far I have been unable to get commentary from either side.

The Equinoxe, now known as Les Apartments Marc Chagall.

Construction began on two connected “rental condos”  at the corner of Marc Chagall,  near Mackle in 2017. The land had been rezoned residential 30 years earlier under the administration of the late Bernard Lang, so city council was in no position to stop the project when the Jadco Group and its partners purchased the land.  Work to create the buildings was long and messy and as the city councillor for the area I had to engage in repetitive mediation efforts between the ownership and local residents.

Even today, eight years later, I find myself fielding complaints on a fairly regular basis. To his credit, Jadco Real Estate Corporation CEO André Doudak has never avoided any of my calls. He agreed from the get go to help me establish a special committee I established with local condo association reps. In addition, he put in place a number of contacts at the complex whom I could work with. Now Realstar assumes the mantle. I must say that in the 20 years I have been the city councillor for District 2, I’ve barely heard a complaint from anyone living in the Excelsior. I hope that is a good omen.

The Equinoxe has now been renamed Les Apartments Marc Chagall.  I will follow up when I have more news.
