There is a new business in Côte Saint-Luc. Comfort Keepers, one of the world’s largest chains of in-home care providers to seniors and veterans, has set up shop at 5555 Westminister (Suite 409) at the corner of Côte Saint-Luc Road. This is considered the company’s office serving Cote Saint-Luc, Hampstead, Westmount, NDG, Cote-des-Neiges, Snowdon and Downtown Montreal.
At the helm are two longtime residents of the West End: Côte Saint-Luc native John Cusmariu and Mark Bromby of Montreal West (pictured below). John most recently worked as a sales executive for CJAD Radio, assuming the post that his mom Trudy – a former colleague of mine at The Suburban Newspaper – had vacated.
With the recent announcement that the Griffith McConnell Seniors Facility on Parkhaven will close it doors June 30, Cusmariu believes there will be an even greater focus on keeping seniors living in their own residences for as long and safely as possible. “We are both extremely committed to making a difference in as many people’s lives as possible,” Cusmariu says. “ Most of our employees come from this community and almost all of our clients do as well
“We know, from experience, that for many elderly people, the option of aging at home, in familiar surroundings, is more personal, comforting and often more cost-effective than other care options”, Cusmariu continued, “and we have made it our mission to provide them with the opportunity to live safely with the dignity and respect they deserve in an environment that is comforting and full of wonderful memories.”
“As owners we are both very community minded and it makes us especially proud to offer employment opportunities to members of our community to care for members of our community. Our caregivers humble us each and every day with the depth of their compassion for our clients and our community,”,Bromby noted. ““Both John and I have personally lived through the enormous stress and emotions that families face when caring for a loved one. Our goal in starting this business was to make it possible for seniors in our community, and their families, to live a more comfortable, dignified and peaceful life.”
Comfort Keepers, founded in 1997, currently numbers over 600 offices worldwide. Services are available on an hourly, daily or weekly basis with care plans customized to an individual’s needs and include free home assessments, basic companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping and laundry service, grocery shopping, transportation to and from appointments or recreational activities and much more.

it’s been a great day!*
*I hope my family and all friends are happy everyday.
A leather cord necklace screams Bon Jovi (pre-hottie haircut), yes, but today’s leather and silk cord necklaces, while sturdy and baby-proof, have feminine, tribal flare and can be worn with anything from t-shirts and jeans to date night dresses.
There’s something stealthily sexy about a day dress. Perhaps it’s because the day dress is so unabashedly feminine. Perhaps it’s because the silhouette is so different from the normal uniform of jeans and drapy tees. Perhaps it’s because these dresses are cut to celebrate the real female form (you know – the one with curves).
