David Tordjman has won the Côte Saint-Luc election for mayor

Across Quebec, including of course Côte Saint-Luc, municipal elections were held on Sunday, November 2. Lior Azerad in District 5 and myself (District 2) were acclaimed to office last month, with no opposition.

When all of the votes were counted, Mayor Mitchell Brownstein was declared the winner by 50 votes versus David Tordjman. Elections Quebec then declared Tordjman the winner by one vote, with revised figures. A recount took place on November 14 and Tordjman won by seven votes. The new mayor and council will be formally sworn in next week.

I wish to congratulate the winning candidates and the others who put their names forward. Being a municipal elected official is no easy task. In fact over the last several years it has become more challenging due to acts of disrespect and cyberbullying on the part of some citizens. We all work exceedingly hard, advocating for our constituents and assuming important porfolios. Now we must get back to the business of running our city, with immediate priorities being plans for the 2026 budget and the adoption of our master plan. However, we cannot do so until we know who our mayor is.
