The Petinos franchise in Dollard des Ormeaux is thriving

Petinos – A Breakfast & Lunch Favourite in Laval and Dollard-des-Ormeaux

Last winter I first told readers about Petinos (www.petinos.ca) when I enjoyed a fabulous take-out order for breakfast and lunch from the Sainte-Dorothée (Laval) franchise. There are 17 Petinos franchises in Quebec, with Harry Sikellis owning Charlemagne and Dollard-des-Ormeaux locations.

Sikellis and his team navigated the pandemic well. The Dollard location, managed by Harry’s son Mike and co-owned by Tracy Gagné, is thriving. By 10 am on a recent Saturday morning, there was a lineup out the door. Mike, assisted by his mom Marina Tzanetakou, was busy checking vaccine passports. Plexiglass partitions separate well-spaced tables, and service is fast and efficient. The menu is impressive: the American breakfast features a 10-ounce sirloin steak, two eggs over easy, tomatoes, onion, pickles, home fries, baked beans, toast, and decaf coffee. Diet-conscious diners can try the Protein from the Health card section: an egg white omelet, bagel, choice of cottage cheese, cream cheese, or yogurt, with muesli and fresh fruit.

Petinos offers crepes, pancakes, French toast, omelets, waffles, hamburgers, sandwiches, bagels, croissants, and fresh fruit. There is a children’s menu for kids aged 10 and under.

Harry bought the Laval spot in the SmartCentres Mall four years ago and is divesting from it. The Charlemagne location opened in February 2020 just before the lockdown. The Dollard location reopened on June 15 after a change in ownership and renovations, now offering a 145-seat facility.

The name “Petinos” comes from founder Ilias Vouras’ inspiration from the rooster (“petino” in Greek) that woke him up every morning in Greece—a symbol of a beautiful start to the day.

The Dollard-des-Ormeaux location is at 3520 Sources Blvd in a strip mall, with plenty of parking, open from 6 am to 3 pm Monday to Saturday, and 7 am to 3 pm on Sundays. Call 514-685-1161 or order via UberEats, DoorDash, or Skip the Dishes. Visit www.petinos.ca/en for the full menu.
