Bialik High School interns have given me a nice boost this academic year.
As I approach the 20th anniversary since first being elected to Côte Saint-Luc City Council, among the highlights has been the evolution of my community service program with students from Bialik High School situated in my District 2. While I have worked with student volunteers in one way or another since the start last year marked a turning point when I approached Bialik Co-Head of School and Principal Avi Satov. All students need to put in a certain amount of volunteer hours each year to complete their community service.
Four Grade 10 students – Avery Hannon, Noah Galambos, Jeremy Nashen, Alexa Omer and Liana Levary- and two others from Grade 9 -Noah Hoffman and Evan Levy – are on board and I hope to increase that number for the next academic year.

Avery, Noah, Jeremy and Noah G have been working on local commerce project, meeting with merchants and conducting a variety of surveys. Alexa and Liana are speaking to youth and asking them what they’d like to see in Côte Saint-Luc’s master plan.
Noah H and Evan have helped me embark on the development of a data base and questionnaire for real estate agents who are active in Côte Saint-Luc. I am pleased to say that have all done a terrific job and in some cases surpassed their required amount of community hours because they enjoy the challenge so much.

Les stagiaires du lycée Bialik m'ont donné un coup de pouce bienvenu cette année scolaire.
À l'approche du 20e anniversaire de mon élection au conseil municipal de Côte Saint-Luc, l'un des moments forts a été l'évolution de mon programme de service communautaire avec les élèves du lycée Bialik, situé dans mon quartier, le district 2.
Bien que je travaille avec des étudiants bénévoles d'une manière ou d'une autre depuis le début de l'année dernière, un tournant a été atteint lorsque j'ai approché Avi Satov, codirecteur et directeur de l'école Bialik. Tous les élèves doivent effectuer un certain nombre d'heures de bénévolat chaque année pour valider leur service communautaire.
Quatre élèves de 10e année – Avery Hannon, Noah Galambos, Jeremy Nashen, Alexa Omer et Liana Levary – et deux autres de 9e année – Noah Hoffman et Evan Levy – se sont joints à nous, et j'espère que leur nombre augmentera au cours de la prochaine année scolaire.
Avery, Noah, Jeremy et Noah G ont travaillé sur un projet lié au commerce local, rencontrant des commerçants et menant diverses enquêtes.
Alexa et Liana discutent avec des jeunes pour leur demander ce qu'ils aimeraient voir dans le plan directeur de Côte Saint-Luc.
Noah H et Evan m'ont aidé à créer une base de données et un questionnaire destinés aux agents immobiliers actifs à Côte Saint-Luc.
Je suis heureux de dire qu'ils ont tous fait un travail formidable et que certains ont même dépassé le nombre d'heures de service communautaire requis, car ils apprécient beaucoup ce défi.
